Ciao, Buongiorno, Buonasera, Salve!
This Tuscan landscape south of Florence is my new soul landscape, which is why I fell in love with Tuscany. Cypresses, olive valleys, green vineyards. A village 7 km from San Casciano Val di Pesa (FI).
ππ· A Newcomerβs First Love: A new landscape for a Nordic woman in Tuscany
Moving to a village near San Casciano Val di Pesa feels a bit like stumbling into a secret chapter of Tuscany, which the guidebooks somehow forgot to mention. As a newcomer, I wander around with eyes wide open, half convinced that someone painted this place rather than built it. Maybe I should try to paint it my way?
The hills curve softly around the town like an old friend leaning in for a warm hug, and the vineyards glow golden in the late afternoon light. Well, November is dark also here and evenings and nights are humid and chilly, wool socks, warm house shoes and hot tea is needed. Or a warm, cozy hug from someone special. π§‘
And of course the cats, tiny four-legged locals who stroll through the narrow streets with great confidence. They look at me with polite curiosity, as if deciding whether this new Finnish stranger is worthy of joining their daily route. Nelson Mandela the Cat approves of this village wholeheartedly; he sits by the window, watching the world go by like a retired gentleman enjoying the best seat in the piazza. My cat only goes outside on a leash.π»πββ¬
This little Tuscan village has its own gentle heartbeat: quieter, softer, and safer than Florence. Itβs the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, breathe deeply, sip a cappuccino (only in the mornings), and whisper to yourself, βYesβ¦ I could fall in love with this life.β πβ
Lovely kaki (persimmon) trees are common. La frutta is really sweet, ripe in Nov-Dec.
